Hey there, my name is Lashonya. I am a blogger at Style in PNW style and lifestyle blog. Denim on Denim is one of my favorite looks. I usually wear it as a causal outfit. I often call it my favorite weekend look. I usually style my denim on denim with a medium washed distressed jeans and a light wash chambray shirt. I like to pair it with a western print cardigan or scarf to give a cool western vibe. Since, this outfit is about causal comfort I like to wear tan booties and a brown or black wide brim hat. There you have it a totally chic western casual look. Leave me a comment if you would like to see my usual denim on denim look. As you know, I love taking my usual outfit pieces and mixing them up to create a completely different look suitable for a completely different occasion. For example, check out Top Look of 2017 to see how to wear an Adidas T-shirt with heels or Style In PNW instagram to see how to wear a pink blazer with a baseball cap! Most recently I created a new look so polished you could even wear it to work!
I reinvent how I wear the pieces I already own so often it is a joke at my house. My guy ask “is that new?” and I reply “Yes, I went shopping in my closet”. This denim on denim revamp happened like all my other outfit transformations the morning of getting dressed for a busy day. I usually have an idea of the look I want to achieve based on the occasion. Then I try it the day of, totally unsure if they are going to work and I am pleasantly surprised because they do work! Then a few tweaks and the look is perfected.
There is the how to achieve this look. Instead of going with a medium wash jean, I went with a dark or black wash. This makes the look more formal because a black trouser is synonymous with dress clothes and it is less obvious that you are wearing denim. Second, I paired with a light wash cambray shirt – fancy term for denim shirt. The light wash mimics a blue button down collard shirt. Also, a very common professional piece. Then to make the look more polished I traded my western print cardigan for a long structured grey cardigan. I found all three of these items at one . I also swapped out my booties for my Joe Jeans peep-toe heels in the same color. Lastly, instead of my wide brim hat and beach waves per usual I elected for a sleek low pony with alot of volume in the back. And there you have it. An outfit fit for work and shed the cardigan for a easy going denim look for the evening!
